COOPMAN SHORTLISTED FOR BUSINESS & FINANCES INAUGURAL ESG AWARDS

Coopman Search and Selection are delighted to be shortlisted finalists for the ESG Company Award for Start-Ups at the Business & Finance’s inaugural ESG Awards which will take place later this month.

This award recognises individual companies that make exceptional contributions towards creating a set of Environmental, Social & Governance strategies with impactful actions and results for its stakeholders at every level.

To celebrate this, we are looking back on the strides we’ve taken to be an environmentally and socially responsible company, as well as what’s coming down the line in Coopman.

As of November 2021, Coopman Search and Selection are officially a Certified B Corporation™, meaning we meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability in creating a positive impact as a business. Our long-term sustainability commitments can be seen in the work we do every day; from providing our new colleagues with recycled notebooks, pens and reusable water bottles, to committing to planting 10 trees for every individual we place through OneTreePlanted, we ensure every aspect of our business is conducted in a manner that supports a sustainable future. Planting trees is one of the best ways to combat the damaging effects of climate change. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. That’s not all though; such programmes also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, empower women in underdeveloped nations, and support communities devastated by environmental damage. So far, we have planted trees in Scotland, Iceland and Denmark, which have all experienced significant deforestation, as well as Africa, where biodiversity projects are underway to protect endangered species and regain ecosystems.

As a B Corp-certified company, we are proud to partner with the Irish Youth Foundation through which we can make a positive difference for children and young people in Ireland who are facing adversity in their lives. So far, our donations have been aligned to the SCOOP Foundation, a programme which will be delivered to 135 young people seeking asylum and will provide training and support along with guided pathways to employment which helps circumvent some of the key barriers faced by those young people as well as prospective employers. We will also be working with the YMCA, who work with young adults who come from disadvantaged areas, and will host workshops relevant to job searching, a career in recruitment and more.

This July, we will be undertaking our next charity activity, the Four Peaks Challenge. Over three days we will climb four peaks across the four provinces of Ireland, to raise vital funds for the Irish Youth Foundation and the amazing work they do.

At Coopman, we also have a responsibility to our colleagues and our prospective colleagues. We provide our employees with unlimited annual leave to ensure wellbeing is supported and promoted. We know purpose matters, and our people are at the heart of our company-wide Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Moreover, we will advocate equity, diversity and inclusion in both Coopman and in the employment of individuals, striving to enhance representation and improve workforce integration for our network.

We are honoured to be shortlisted for the ESG Company Award for Start-Ups and look forward to continuing our mission as a specialist recruiter that puts sustainability and social consciousness at the forefront of our practices.
