Six months after joining Coopman Search & Selection, Funto Joye has been promoted to Consultant, following an impressive start with our aircraft leasing team in Dublin.
Since joining Coopman, Funto has thrown himself into the international aircraft leasing market, quickly developing his sector knowledge and building relationships with clients and candidates across Europe, North America and Singapore.
It has been a fast-paced first six months and one that reflects Funto’s ambition from the outset. When he joined Coopman, one of the things that attracted him most to aircraft leasing was the opportunity to build a genuinely international career and network within the sector.
“I wanted to join Coopman because of the networking opportunities within aircraft leasing, both nationally and internationally. I wanted to build strong relationships with professionals across the industry and develop my career within a market that is truly global.”
Before joining Coopman, Funto spent four years running his own transportation business in Dublin, working with embassies, companies and hotels. Running his own business gave him valuable commercial experience from an early stage in his career, particularly when it came to building relationships, understanding clients and delivering a high level of service.
One of the highlights was organising transport for the Nigerian Minister of Aviation and his delegation during a visit to Dublin for Airline Economics — an early connection with an industry that would later become the focus of his career.
Since making the move into aircraft leasing recruitment, Funto has quickly established himself within the market. In just six months, he has worked with clients across multiple international jurisdictions and is continuing to grow a network spanning some of the world’s key aviation hubs.
That international ambition extends to how he sees his own career — and Coopman’s position within the market — developing.
“I see Coopman becoming even more visible internationally within aircraft leasing and continuing to be a trusted and respected brand. I’m excited to be part of that and to keep developing relationships across the global market.”
Funto cites Dean Forbes as a business leader he particularly admires, inspired both by his career in technology and the scale of what he has achieved.
“Seeing what Dean Forbes has achieved in the tech sector, coming from a background like mine, inspires me to do something similar in aviation.”
And one piece of advice has particularly stayed with him:
“Never be intimidated by things you’ve never done, as long as you can understand the logic and reasoning behind them.”
It is an attitude that has served him well during a stellar first six months at Coopman.
