Compliance Manager

Coopman Search & Selection is delighted to be partnered with a leading Life Assurance company seeking to hire a Compliance Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the business functions operate in compliance with all legal, regulatory and governance requirements – including data protection; reporting to the Head of Compliance and collaborating with stakeholders across the business. 

Job Role:

• Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory and governance requirements and any related upstream developments.
• Support the Head of Compliance in respect to tasks such as reporting, representation at fora etc.
• Engage with, and provide advice, to business functions on all relevant compliance matters.
• Identify, investigate and interpret upstream relevant regulations, liaising with business functions to ensure successful implementation.
• Monitor overall compliance with local and European data protection rules including: manage company-wide training on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance requirements; and conduct regular assessments to ensure GDPR compliance.
• Oversee all activities of the compliance team including the management of complaints that escalate to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman, conducting risk-based monitoring reviews and the oversight of Compliance Framework.
• Support the compliance team to ensure that the team has a clear strategy and achieves their goals and objectives on an annual basis.

About you:

• Compliance related qualification or other financial related qualifications (e.g. ACOI / CIP / APA).
• Previous managerial experience within a compliance function of a financial services entity, (ideally an insurance undertaking).
• In-depth knowledge of the Central Banks of Ireland’s financial services standards and regulations.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively at Regulator and Board level.
• An ability to work in partnership with senior management.
• People management experience with proven ability to successfully lead a team.
